Stewart Seeking The "Pocono Sweep"

Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500

.The Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway on August 2nd will be the 64th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the 2.5 mile Super Speedway. Since 1982, Pocono Raceway has hosted two races each year (total of 28 years) in NASCAR’s premier series. During that time only six drivers have won both Pocono races in the same year. Tony Stewart, who is currently leading the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points race, won the 2009 Pocono 500 on June 7th and has an excellent chance to become the seventh driver to complete the “Pocono Sweep.”

Stewart, driver of the Office Depot Chevrolet, came from the back of the pack to win the Pocono 500 in June and led 39 laps in capturing his second career victory at Pocono Raceway. His career stats at Pocono Raceway are impressive. He has two wins, seven top 5’s and 15 top 10’s and will be considered a favorite to win the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.
