LONG POND, Pa. (June 2, 2016) – The Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 race weekend started off with the first ever NASCAR XFINITY Series practice and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practices Thursday at Pocono Raceway. An action packed Friday gets started when gates open at 8:00 a.m.
XFINITY SERIES DEBUT AT POCONO RACEWAY: For the first time ever, the NASCAR XFINITY Series was on track at Pocono Raceway in preparations for Saturday’s Pocono Green 250. Brennan Poole, in the No. 48 DC Solar Chevrolet, was the first XFINITY Series driver to go around ‘The Tricky Triangle’ in a NASCAR XFINITY Series Car. The first XFINITY practice was then led Kyle Busch in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota at 170.171 mph. Erik Jones, who finished Practice 1 second at 169.770 mph, topped the leaderboard in Practice 2 in his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota at 172.914 mph.
ON-TRACK ACTIVITIES: The NASCAR SPRINT Cup series will be on track Friday with its first practice from 11 am. To 12:25 p.m. Qualifying for the Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will be on track for the final time before the General Tire #AnywhereIsPossible 400, making its qualifying runs starting at 1:45 p.m. Driver introductions for the race will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the green flag dropping at 5:45.
The NASCAR XFINITY Series will also see some action on track having its third and fourth practices in preparation for the race. The third practice will be happening from 12:30 to 1:25 p.m. and the fourth and final practice from 3:00 to 3:55 p.m.
BARK PARK: The leash-cutting ceremony for the Pocono Raceway Bark Park, the first ever dog park at a motorsports facility, will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. Media shuttles will begin running at 9:15 a.m. The bark park will be open for all RV and camping guests during race weekends.
INFIELD BLOCK PARTY: The Infield Block Party, open to Camping and RV guests only on Friday, will begin at 6 p.m. with musicians Dumm and 40lb.Head performing live. Last call will be at 11:30 p.m
