It’s time for annual The Franklin Institute’s tribute to Race Car driving!
Join us on Wednesday, August 1 from 11am-5pm for Race Car Day, sponsored by Pocono Raceway.
Pocono and other area race tracks will be on site as we speed through the science behind what makes these fast cars go! Kids will have a chance to make their own race cars and race them against others.
There will be race simulators on hand from AAA MidAtlantic, as well as tire toss games and remote controlled car races. Bill Lester, driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, will be signing autographs and giving a presentation on his racing! There will be special giveaways (while supplies last), and you can enter for a chance to win a die-cast car, tickets to local races, or even the Grand Prize: 4 Terrace Club tickets to both the Saturday August 4th ARCA RE/MAX series Pennsylvania 200 and the Sunday August 5th Pennylvania 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Race at Pocono Raceway, including one night’s accommodations at the Blakeslee Inn, in Blakeslee, PA. The winning child will get to drop the green flag as the Honorary Starter for the ARCA Pennsylvania 200 and the family will be invited to Victory Lane for Pre-Race ceremonies!
And as always, there will be real race cars parked outside The Franklin Institute on 20th Street in Philadelphia!
