Busch Dominates the Pennsylvania 500

Race Results

Kurt Busch turned in a dominant performance Sunday afternoon, driving away to a convincing victory in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway.

Starting second, Busch rocketed his No. 2 Penske Racing-owned Miller Lite Dodge into the lead by the first turn and never looked back. He led 175 of 200 laps to set a record for most laps led in a race at Pocono. Jeff Gordon held the previous mark of 164 laps in the 1998 Pennsylvania 500.

It was Busch's second career victory at Pocono; he also won here in July 2005. It also was his 16th career win and first in a 51-race span dating back to Bristol in March 2006.

In four of his last five races at Pocono, Busch has finished first or second.

"It was very solidifying for me today to drive the Miller Lite Dodge into Victory Lane," Busch said. "It was a great handling car. I couldn't thank the team enough. I did the smallest part, because a lot of work goes on behind the scenes putting this race win together."

Pole-sitter Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished second and Denny Hamlin wound up third. Jeff Gordon, who was trying to sweep both Pocono races this season, was fourth and Jimmie Johnson was fifth.

Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer, Mark Martin and Casey Mears rounded out the top 10.
