POCONO WILL HOST GOODGUYS ROD & CUSTOM ASSOCIATION'S GREAT AMERICAN NATIONALS
Pleasanton, CA – Two brand new events and a venue change are just some of the highlights of the 2008 Goodguys Rod & Custom Association event schedule.
The two new events include the Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise September 5, 6 & 7 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio and the Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals, October 17, 18 & 19 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Also new for 2008 is a trip to Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.
Goodguys will aim to take the famed Blue Suede Cruise to new heights in Norwalk, Ohio. The event, celebrating its 7th year in  2008, will be held the weekend following Labor Day (September 5-7, 2008) and combines a rod & custom car show with a full scale vintage drag race on the famed Norwalk quarter mile dragstrip. The award-winning facility is renowned for its pristine grounds and world class dragstrip.
The 1st Goodguys Nostalgia Nationals will be held October 17, 18 & 19 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The event will feature the best of both worlds and include a rod & custom car show and vintage drag race. Historic Beech Bend Raceway Park combines a quarter mile drag strip (complete with covered grandstands) with a full scale amusement park, campground and water park!
The Great American Nationals will move from Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania to its brand new location – Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. The legendary triangular shaped 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway will be a spectacular home for the 4th edition of the Great American Nationals now scheduled for the weekend of September 26, 27 & 28. The event will be staged throughout the entire acreage of Pocono Raceway including portions of the infield, garage area, infield paddock as well as the grassy infield road course.
“The infield and road course areas of Pocono Raceway are spectacular for rod & custom show & shine parking,” said Harry Daviess of Goodguys. “The surrounding villages and towns are quaint and the hotels and resorts are just as spectacular as Pocono Raceway itself. Our members will find this new venue perfect for a Goodguys getaway weekend,” Daviess said.
Goodguys will hold a total of twenty-four events in 2008, anchored by the largest and most prestigious event on the calendar – the 11th PPG Nationals, held July 11, 12 & 13 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, Ohio.
