Hey race fans!
As I sit here at Pocono Raceway, I am still speechless about the Talladega finish. I mean .002 seconds difference between winning and being the first loser! Are you kidding me!?!? This season has been fun to watch and it continues to pump me up about our June races. It’s an off weekend for the Cup boys, but it is not slowing us down! We’re only seven weeks out and things are in full swing at “The Tricky Triangle.”
We had the privilege of hosting a great event this past Sunday. Rain and windy conditions couldn’t keep hundreds of people from joining us for the Walk MS event to help raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Greater Delaware Valley Chapter. It was amazing to see everyone bear the weather and walk to live in a world free of MS. More than $18,000 was raised at Pocono and a total of $161,000-plus was raised among eight walks for this worthy cause. Thanks to the volunteers, participants and donors who made the event a success.
Mother Nature also continues to be a nuisance for our track staff, but all hands are on deck. The finishing touches are being made to the SAFER barriers around our 2.5 mile track and the demolition of the Pit Road Suites is nearly complete. Those suites will be replaced by a Corporate Hospitality RV area. Businesses can rent these to entertain their employees, guests and VIP’s. Once the on-track modifications are complete, we’ll welcome several Sports Car Clubs and the Stock Car Racing Experience back for the 2011 season.
Besides that, we continue to hold weekly Tricky Triangle Trivia contests where winners get a pair of tickets to the June 12thPocono 500. Follow us on our respective Facebook and Twitter pages for your chance to win! While you’re there, check out our exclusive videos and polls. Additionally, we continue to tweek our Pocono Posse (the nickname for our Facebook and Twitter followers) logo. If you have a cool design, or want to ask us a question, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, we are in the process of getting a Grand Marshall for our June NASCAR event and putting together several local viewing parties. These viewing parties will bring race fans together to watch other NASCAR events, prior to our race weekends. We’ll be giving away tickets and autographed driver merchandise at those events. Stay tuned for details on this and more news from “The Tricky Triangle!”
Enjoy the rest of your week/weekend everyone!
