Although we are disappointed NASCAR has chosen to eliminate one of the two NASCAR Cup Series races at Pocono Raceway, we will continue to persevere and provide the best family-friendly experience and value to our guests.
Bringing the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series Doubleheader with fans to life was a privilege. The Doubleheader concept was well-received by our race fans, partners, and guests. It yielded a sold-out infield, sold-out suite level and a strong attendance.
This change does not affect our resolve, our legacy and how we will approach promoting NASCAR races and hosting our guests. We have thrilled millions of spectators and thousands of the world’s greatest racecar drivers over the past 47 years and, alongside NASCAR, we will host millions more.
“The Mattioli family has been instrumental to the success of our sport for decades, particularly in Pennsylvania and the greater northeast, and we cannot thank them enough for their partnership. We look forward to continuing the tradition of NASCAR racing at the Tricky Triangle for years to come,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Senior Vice President, Strategy & Innovation.
Our rich traditions of inclusivity will remain and continue. Through opening the first-ever family lounge in 1978 so everyone could be treated like family, Dr. Rose Mattioli led the way in expanding the garage beyond competitors and made the track experience more inclusive. Forty years later, her grandchildren picked up and carried the torch with dedicated Sensory and Lactation Rooms, as well as an Inclusive Playground built to support the local community and infield race weekend guests. At our core, this is who we are – a strong family business who cares.
Pocono Raceway also has a long-standing history of innovating and putting our fans’ interest first. We remain passionate about our Armed Forces, a tradition which began with the first-ever Military Affairs office. We launched and will continue our Kids Free ticket program, built a 25-acre 3MW Solar Farm, achieved 75% waste diversion, assisted in combating the opioid crisis, launched mobile ticketing in racing, watched Janet Guthrie compete in 1976 and saw Richard Petty win the inaugural NASCAR race in 1974. We believe in the future of NASCAR and will continue to innovate alongside them.
We remain driven and determined to deliver our fans and partners the exciting experiences and lifelong memories they deserve, while continuing to uphold the legacy created by our founders, Doc & Rose.

Can we at least get 400 miles? I know 500 is too much to ask.

Never attended a NASCAR race before but after attending the recent Air Show at Pocono Raceway l easily decided to make this venue the place. Everything and Everyone was outstanding on that day. I am now looking forward to the season opener to attend with my 9yr. old son…please keep me posted. Thanks!

I love Pocono Raceway.I go every race. The double header was the best with camping. It is a shame that Nascar is taking a race away from us!

Pocono Raceway deserves to have more than one major racing event at this wonderful racing facility. Is it possible to attract NHRA to Pocono and convert the front stretch to a drag strip. It may not work out because the NHRA already comes to eastern PA (at Maple Grove). Oh well, I hope something works out in the near future and a second major racing event can be added back to the schedule.

We’ve been going to Pocono for many years. The double-header weekend of 2021 was great, and we’re sorry to hear only one Cup race this year. But we’ll look forward to the weekend, and I know it will be super!

I have been attending Nascar races at Pocono since 1994. Always a great time. Looking forward to 2022.

To the Mattioli & Igdalsky Families and NASCAR, I am deeply saddened that Pocono has lost a date for a cup race in 2022 but I’m am very thankful that Pocono Raceway has at least one race there. Pocono is my favorite race track of all the tracks on the NASCAR circuit by far. Not only is it in a beautiful part of the country, but it also has some of the best racing that NASCAR has to offer. Just look at any YouTube race from the 1990s and 1980s and you will see why…. Some of those races had over 30+ lead changes in a race… I was a 16 year old kid in the stands having traveled all the way from Florida with my parents and saw my favorite driver Dale Jarrett win in the #28 car back in 1995 and Pocono Raceway since then has always have a special place in my heart. I’ve also attended 2 other races there but I watch them all. I was not happy about the shorter race distances in the last few years so with Pocono only having one race in 2022, My hope is that the race will at least be 400 miles or more.. I would love to see 500 miles like it used to be but please no less than 400 miles…. I hope Pocono will always have at least one race a year and I will be very mad at NASCAR and if Pocono loses a Cup race during the season, I’ll probably never pay to see a NASCAR race again. We have lost so many good tracks and if we lose Pocono, it will be the final straw for me to pay for a NASCAR race again.

Its time pocono goes back to the 500 mile races each year instead of this cheap junk 325 and 350 mile races they had doing the doubleheader. In all honestly let’s be completely honest! Nascar allowed the doubleheader with the short races to use as an excuse to take an event away and the owner was so stupid they fell for the trap! The 500 mile distance should never of been messed with! Definetly the 400 mile races should not of been! Then they go to the 325 and 350 mile races and I mean really why did you shorten the races so severely? Its a complete joke honestly! Charge the same amount for seats though for less racing that they would do! Then lie and say how exciting the shorter distance would be! Obviously there’s always more excitement with longer races! Its time for the owners to do right by the fans and bring back a 500 mile race or at least throw us some crumbs and bring back a 400 mile race if nothing else!

Attending a NASCAR race was on our bucket list so we were thrilled when we found a bus trip to POCONO! We left Perth, a small town 70 miles west of Ottawa Ontario Canada very early on Saturday morning August 1st of 2013. We loved it so much we returned in 2014 and 2015. The town of Hazelton welcomed us with open arms and we had a blast at the track! It’s a long day if you do the Pit and Garage passes as well as the race but so worth the money. Our tour organiser, Pocono Scott McIssac made sure all of us had the trip of a lifetime. I am sad that there is only 1 race now at Pocono instead of June and August as in previous years. Canadian NASCAR fans love Pocono Raceway!
