The Sherman Theater is excited to announce the full details of this year’s Pocono Raceway Festival in Downtown Stroudsburg. This year’s festival expands from 5th street to 9th street on Main Street and will be part of a full weekend of events in the Poconos.
Kicking off the weekend at the Sherman Theater will be a meet-and-greet autograph session with a number of ARCA drivers and the Sprint Cup girls at 7:00 PM, followed by a concert with folk musician David Bromberg, Friday June 8th at 8:00pm. The events on Saturday June 9th will begin at 12:00pm and include a variety of features for all ages. Sprawled out all along Main Street will be a wide number of activities, including NASCAR and antique show cars, dozens of vendors, beer tents and food vendors. This year’s festival will also include a rock climbing wall and a full carnival, featuring a number of carnival staples such as the big slide and Ferris Wheel.
Saturday’s musical appearances will include three headlining performances beginning at 3:30pm from The Glimmer Twins (Rolling Stone Tribute), Livewire (AC/DC Tribute) and The Marshall Tucker Band. Both The Glimmer Twins and Livewire will be featured on the main stage and will be followed by The Marshall Tucker Band performing inside the Sherman Theater beginning at 8:30pm. During the course of the day, there will be 3 additional stages along Main Street featuring local and regional bands all day.
Additional features include a newly implemented shuttle bus system. Shuttles will transport festival patrons who park at Stroudsburg High School free of charge. Campers parking on the infield at Pocono Raceway will also have a shuttle bus option available- $12.00 for a two way ticket, or $20 for a two way ticket packaged with a ticket to the 8:30 PM Marshall Tucker Band concert in the Sherman Theater.
On Sunday, June 10th the festival weekend will come to an end with the Pocono 400 at the Pocono Raceway. The race is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series; tickets are on sale at poconoraceway.com.
This year’s event is a weekend long tribute to the late Doctor Joseph Mattioli, founder of Pocono Raceway. His dedication to the beautification and revitalization of downtown Stroudsburg and his numerous charitable contributions to the Poconos region will be recognized during the weekend, acknowledging the legacy Doc left behind and his impact in the community.
