At Pocono Raceway, we draw fans from all over the world. Because of our geographic location and proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., international racing fans tend to use Pocono Raceway as their “home track.” We know they might only ever attend one race and we embrace this responsibility and opportunity on behalf of all motorsports to create a tremendous experience. We have been fortunate enough to hosts guests from at least 30 different counties. We asked a few of them to tell us their stories. For the next eight weeks, we will showcase these international Pocono Raceway fans.
Keith from England
Q: How did you become interested in NASCAR?
A: I used to run a company in England which was part of Pi Research who supplied the electronics to NASCAR. From this, we were given a computer game by Microsoft Cart Precision Racing. My son got hold of the game and became addicted to oval racing. He is the fan and knows the cars and drivers (he is now 15) and is still into NASCAR.
Q: How do you follow races in your home country?
A: My son follows the races on Bt sports and YouTube.
Q: Who is your favorite driver and why?
A: Brad Keslowski. My son just likes him.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Pocono Raceway?
A: The time of the year. My son finishes school, we dash to the airport and make it to the race. It has to be an oval or triangle. We do not have oval races in Europe. We have one oval track in the UK which was only used once.
Q: How long have you been planning this trip?
A: Since the start of the year
Q: Are you doing anything else in the United States during your stay?
A: Lots. Niagara Falls, Coldplay concert, New York Finger Lakes, Harrisburg, Pa., Washington, D.C., Martin Guitar Factory and HersheyPark.
Q: What are you most excited for about race weekend?
A: The noise!
