At Pocono Raceway, we draw fans from all over the world. Because of our geographic location and proximity to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., international racing fans tend to use Pocono Raceway as their “home track.” We know they might only ever attend one race and we embrace this responsibility and opportunity on behalf of all motorsports to create a tremendous experience. We have been fortunate enough to hosts guests from at least 30 different counties. We asked a few of them to tell us their stories. For the next eight weeks, we will showcase these international Pocono Raceway fans.

Q: How did you become interested in NASCAR?
A: So why NASCAR? I always promised myself that to attend a NASCAR race is a must. A bucket list item! This was the golden opportunity to do this. I am a real gear/petrol head and love motorsport. Unfortunately NASCAR is relatively unknown in South Africa but then I am referring to the general public. We have local saloon racing, rallye, carts and road and offroad motorcycing.
So, the interest is because of motorsport in general and obviously who does not love the sound of American V8 iron. By the way… a project in the making is a 427 AC Shelby Cobra S/C, that will run a fettled 390 FE.
Q: Who is your favorite driver and why?
A: We don’t have favorite drivers or teams. We are coming to visit and make the most of this experience and if luck is on our side, meet some of the drivers and teams.
Q: Why did you choose to come to Pocono Raceway?
A: Pocono Raceway looks like an amazing track. So what is great is that we can have this experience at an awesome track too. What excites me most will be the people, the track, the smell of racing fuel, rubber and last but not least sound!
Q: How long have you been planning this trip?
A: For about four weeks.
Q: Are you doing anything else in the United States during your stay?
A: We will spend a week or so on Long Island, maybe travel to Penn State. No firm plans besides NASCAR. Then spend a few days in Venice Beach, Fla., before heading back.
Q: What are you most excited for about race weekend?
A: We are super excited to be there!
