LONG POND, PA (July 17, 2013) – Pocono Raceway announced today they will host the third-annual “Drive the Triangle” event, benefiting the United Way of Monroe County. Donors will have the opportunity to take their personal vehicles, for a $10 donation, per lap, around the 2.5-mile Raceway between the hours of 12 Noon – 7 pm on Saturday, July 26.
“We are very excited about this year’s ‘Drive the Triangle’ event to benefit a great cause in the Pocono community,” said Brandon Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway’s President and CEO. “This has been annual event and something our staff looks forward to hosting. The United Way of Monroe County does so much for the Pocono region and we sincerely hope the community will come out to enjoy the day with us.”
The “Drive the Triangle” event will begin inside the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Garage area, inside Pocono Raceway. Attendees will enter through the Gate 1 Tunnel, located off Long Pond Road. Signs inside the facility will guide individuals to the Garage area. Cash and checks, made out to The United Way of Monroe County, will be accepted. There is no limit on the amount of times a vehicle can go through the process, but each lap will require a $10 donation. All adults inside the vehicle will be required to sign a waiver, for insurance purposes. This event is rain or shine.
Staffing the event will be members of the Pocono Raceway staff and community volunteers associated with the United Way of Monroe County.
Is there a set max speed limit?
Do we follow a lead car at a given max speed?
How many cars are allowed on the track at once?
Chris, Speeds will be capped and personal vehicles will have to follow a pace vehicle for insurance reasons. The number of cars on track at the same time will depend on the number here at that time.
Looking forward to do it at what speed does the pace car go at. I’m hoping a good speed.
Would my 10 year old son be allowed in my vehicle with me?
Leonard-Yes, your son is allowed in the vehicle with you.
Would like to know what speed is it capped at and is there any passing.
Thanks
Are motorcycles allowed?
Danielle- Yes, motorcycles are welcome as long as the people on it are wearing helmets.

Hello, do you have any idea what will be the speed cap? I want to buy laps for donation and as a gift. Thank you!
What’s the speed cap? Not trying to drive 2hours to go 40-50mph around a track following a pace car. Thanks
When will there be another event like this?
We usually only hold this event once a year. If we host another one, the best way to find out about it would be through our website.
is this on Saturday or Sunday? July 26 is a Sunday. We have 7 people ready to go on Sunday. Let me know.
