LONG POND, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2017) – In honor of the trailblazing efforts, tireless dedication, commitment and passion of Dr. Rose Mattioli to the motorsports and local community, President & CEO Brandon Igdalsky announced today the launch of the Pocono Raceway’s first women’s initiative, the Rose Pedals.
Continuing the Mattioli spirit of community, philanthropy and service by uniting as a team to give back to the community, the Rose Pedals will or have provided volunteer assistance in areas of need to include Meals on Wheels, Women’s Resource Center, Family Promise of Monroe County and Operation Touch of Home among other agencies and organizations.
“I am very proud of the Rose Pedals,” said Igdalsky. “Since Pocono Raceway was founded by my grandparents (Drs. Joseph and Rose Mattioli), community and philanthropy were pillars of the organization and continues today. This organization believes in that and powers the women of our staff to continue Dr. Rose’s example. We look forward to seeing the Rose Pedals lending a hand, from delivering meals to shut-ins, organizing food and clothing drives and other fun activities.”
The Rose Pedals future vision includes a mentoring program built on the foundation of service to work toward expanding opportunities for girls and women in the community by providing tools to recognize their power, potential and accomplishments.
A luncheon with a moved and honored Dr. Rose Mattioli marked the kickoff of the Rose Pedals. A cherished mentor, Dr. Rose shared stories from the past 45 years of Pocono Raceway during the luncheon at her home.
